OCHA seeks an extra $296 million as Delcy Rodríguez repeats her call to lift sanctions

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) issued an additional urgent appeal for $296 million, VPItv reported, citing more than 3,800 dead and 16,740 injured from the double quake. Funvisis recorded a magnitude 3.9 aftershock near Naiguatá on Friday, according to Primicias.

On state TV, acting president Delcy Rodríguez repeated, in a meeting with the 87 temporary camps, her demand that sanctions end so the country can fund reconstruction. La Iguana TV picked up that call on Friday while discussing housing inspections.

«End the sanctions and the blockade against Venezuela. Venezuela has resources blocked around the world with which to handle this reconstruction process…»— Delcy Rodríguez, July 9, 2026 · watch
