Delcy Rodríguez arrives in New York for the UN General Assembly; opposition protests and questions her legitimacy

Delcy Rodríguez landed before dawn on Monday at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey to attend the 81st UN General Assembly, VTV reported, showing her reception by the top U.S. diplomat in Caracas, John Barret. Diosdado Cabello, at a PSUV press conference, called her participation "the triumph of our country's peace diplomacy."

NTN24 showed a protest by Venezuelans in New York against the visit, where demonstrators called her "an accomplice of the regime that has destroyed Venezuela." Analyst Andrés Viera-Blanco told NTN24 that "no single nation legitimizes her," while Daniel Lara Farías called her UN appearance a possible "political humiliation."

María Corina Machado gains Republican allies in Washington pushing for earlier elections

Opposition commentator David Placeres reported that politicians from the "America First" wing of the Republican Party, including Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno, back María Corina Machado's push to "speed up" Venezuela's election calendar. According to Placeres, Marco Rubio's envoys are working with tentative dates of "late 2027 or early 2028."

Placeres noted the initiative surfaced just before a possible meeting between Delcy Rodríguez and Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The commentator said he had no confirmation that Machado would meet with Trump administration representatives before returning to Venezuela.
