2015 National Assembly and Jorge Rodríguez open joint agenda with electoral reforms; Marco Rubio backs it

The 2015 National Assembly, led by Dinorah Figuera, confirmed a roadmap with chavismo that starts August 1 and prioritizes electoral system reforms and guarantees for political participation, Infobae reported. Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared the announcement on social media.

Jorge Rodríguez, who days earlier refused to reopen political talks after the earthquakes, confirmed he is resuming them, Efecto Cocuyo reported. Commentator David Placeres said María Corina Machado had not yet reacted and that the deal points toward free elections.

Diosdado Cabello's photos with John Barrett and U.S. military officers divide the opposition

NTN24 revisited images of U.S. chargé d'affaires John Barrett alongside Diosdado Cabello and cited journalist David Placer, who says Cabello leaked the photos to clean up his image. The channel recalled that Washington offers a reward for his capture.

Patricia Poleo said Cabello walking free is itself a bad sign. Daniel Lara Farías said the photos hurt the U.S. strategy in the eyes of Venezuelan public opinion.

Delcy Rodríguez calls for sanctions to be lifted at the National Economic Council; National Assembly passes resolution for victims

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez led the National Economic Council and said Venezuela has resumed relations with multilateral financial institutions, VTV reported. The National Assembly approved a resolution of solidarity with victims of the June 24 double earthquake.

TVFANB reported the launch of the Venezuela Renace plan in Yaracuy and a mortgage program with a subsidy of up to 80% for those affected.
