Story 1 of 2

Trump tells the UN the U.S. "arrested fugitive war-criminal dictator Nicolás Maduro" as Delcy Rodríguez listened

In his address to the UN's 81st General Assembly in New York, President Donald Trump touted Nicolás Maduro's capture and warned that the United States would use its "military power" to stop new threats in the hemisphere, according to NTN24 and David Placeres. Per El Diario NY, Delcy Rodríguez listened to the speech without visible reaction, while Cuba's delegation walked out when Trump warned that regime would "fall".

Hours later, Trump and Rodríguez held a bilateral meeting at a New York hotel, the first face-to-face encounter between a U.S. president and a Venezuelan leader in over a decade, El Tiempo reported. Opposition commentator Daniel Lara Farías said the interim president arrived in U.S. territory aboard a U.S. government plane and argued that she is the one "giving away" Venezuelan oil to Washington.
