Delcy Rodríguez's 180-day term as acting president expires as she defends militarizing La Guaira

Delcy Rodríguez has completed six months as acting president, the maximum allowed by Article 234 of the Constitution, and the National Assembly led by Jorge Rodríguez has not ruled on it, Infobae reported. The group Acceso a la Justicia called that silence "alarming." According to AP, Rodríguez held her first news conference eight days after the quake.

At that news conference, Rodríguez said she militarized La Guaira so specialists could work and to stop "media narratives." Opposition commentator Daniel Lara Farías argued the opposite: that the militarization was meant to stop people from helping those trapped.
