Hernán Gil rescued alive after 8 days under the Galerías Playa Grande mall

According to Efecto Cocuyo, 43-year-old security guard Hernán Gil was rescued alive on July 2 after 8 days trapped under the rubble of the Galerías Playa Grande mall in Catia La Mar. NTN24 reported that rescuers from four countries took part in the operation, 183 hours after the earthquake.

Acting president Delcy Rodríguez raised the toll to 2,595 dead and 12,400 injured, ABC News reported, adding that nearly 50,000 people remain unaccounted for and there have been more than 862 aftershocks.

Delcy Rodríguez decorates Italian and Swiss rescuers; Patricia Poleo says the U.S. is handling the crisis

According to VTV, Delcy Rodríguez awarded the Hero of Venezuela Medal to rescue teams from Italy and Switzerland in La Guaira, joined by Diosdado Cabello, Jorge Rodríguez and Defense Minister Gustavo González López.

Patricia Poleo said the United States has sent 2,000 troops to handle the emergency. Daniel Lara Farías argued that Delcy Rodríguez controls even less now than before the earthquake.
