First trial over Ronald Ojeda's murder opens in Chile; prosecutors point to Diosdado Cabello

The first oral trial over the kidnapping and murder of former Venezuelan lieutenant Ronald Ojeda opened this Thursday in Santiago, with prosecutors seeking 20 years in prison for the defendant actually in the courtroom, La Tercera reported.

Opposition commentator David Placeres said Chilean prosecutors, after a two-year investigation, name Diosdado Cabello as the mastermind who paid for the crime through Tren de Aragua, and that the case could be resolved in his absence. Cabello has not addressed the trial.
