Diosdado Cabello says the PSUV is ready for any election and rejects criticism of the oil deal with the US
At Monday's PSUV press conference, sectoral vice president Diosdado Cabello said the ruling party has "a presence across the entire national territory" and is ready to compete whenever elections are called, Prensa Latina reported. He also rejected the opposition campaign against the oil deal signed with the United States, Resumen Latinoamericano reported.
Opposition commentators such as Patricia Poleo questioned acting president Delcy Rodríguez's defense of businessman Alejandro Betancourt, a partner in the new oil scheme, and noted he remains under scrutiny by U.S. intelligence agencies. Cabello, for his part, insisted Chavismo does not settle for "silver medals."
