U.S. sanctions Bluwaves, Harry Sargeant III's former Venezuelan oil vehicle, and Patricia Poleo points to Alejandro Betancourt
The U.S. Treasury on Tuesday sanctioned Bluwaves Properties Limited, a British Virgin Islands company that belonged to businessman Harry Sargeant III and held a minority stake in the oil company NABEP, El Pitazo reported. Sargeant sold that stake in early August. VPItv opened its Wednesday newscast with the sanction.
According to La Estrella de Panamá, Alejandro Betancourt took control of NABEP after that sale and advises Delcy Rodríguez's government on oil, mining and debt. Patricia Poleo said Betancourt 'inherits' Alex Saab's businesses and recalled his return to Caracas on June 27.
