When are Venezuela's elections? What we know today
Is there a date?
No. On September 24, 2026, at the UN, acting president Delcy Rodríguez said "there will be elections in Venezuela," without a date.
What the opposition wants
The Alliance for Venezuela (AVE), formed on September 14, demands early presidential elections with a firm date, an impartial electoral council, lifting María Corina Machado's ban —she is its candidate— and freeing political prisoners. On September 24 protesters rallied at the electoral council in Caracas with the same demands.
What is still missing
The National Assembly reformed the Supreme Court law on August 27, but as of September 23 had not named the committee that picks the new justices. Machado, in Panama, has tried and failed seven times to return.
