She is Venezuela's acting president. The Supreme Court ordered her to take over the presidency after Nicolás Maduro was captured on January 3, 2026. Before that she was executive vice president.
Her meeting with Trump
On September 22, 2026 she met Donald Trump in New York behind closed doors during the UN General Assembly. They discussed energy, mining, security and aid after the June 24 earthquake. Rodríguez called it "a historic meeting." At the UN on September 24 she said Venezuela will hold elections, without giving a date.
